International Program Guidelines

Mission: The Sundance Family Foundation supports and strengthens family stability worldwide.

The Sundance Family Foundation will make grants to projects in 501(c)(3) organizations that are based in the United States that support family stability in Russia, Latin America or Africa. Grants are likely to range from $15,000 to $35,000.

Priorities Within the Above Areas

Sundance Family Foundation gives priority to funding programs that create systematic change, sustainable improvement and/or Social Entrepreneurship (click here).

Sundance Family Foundation will consider funding programs directed toward empowering families in one or preferable more of the following areas:

  • Economic Stability – especially innovation in microfinance programs that reach the poorest of the poor, protect the rights of the borrower, and follow the CGAP principles.
  • Mental Health, Wellness and Addiction
  • Housing
  • Family and Community Health

The Foundation prefers to fund programs:

  • In rural areas
  • That include community based engagement
  • That find ways to create higher impact at lower cost

Geographic Parameters

Proposals for international support must be presented by 501(c)(3) organizations based in the United States with annual budgets of $100,000 or greater, that work in Latin America, Africa, or Russia.

Priorities Within the Above Areas

The Sundance Family Foundations will give priority to proposals that contain some or all of the following characteristics:

  • Efficient projects where Sundance Family Foundation grants would leverage additional funding or volunteers.
  • Collaborative projects, as well as organizational partnerships that encourage growth and build the capacity of young organizations.
  • Projects that stress inclusivity, that promote leadership from within, and that work in partnership with their beneficiaries to improve and empower their lives.
  • Projects that intend to impact family stability directly, and serve families for whom other resources are unsubstantial or are unavailable.

Funding Parameters

In the area of international funding, Sundance Family Foundation does NOT fund the following types of projects:

  • Organizations with annual budgets below $100,000
  • Individuals
  • Scholarships or Fellowships
  • Endowments
  • Capital support for International projects should not make up more than one-half of the project budget
  • General operating support (except by invitation)

NOTE - All applications to the Sundance Family Foundation will also be considered for funding by the Sundance Pay It Forward Foundation. One completed proposal packet serves as an application to both foundations, and granting decisions for both foundations will be announced on the same schedule.
